Disk Triage - Exports

Disk Triage allows you to gather more information about the contents of your disk space than any other tool.  Once you have all this information - a logical question is what can I do with it...

While Disk Triage provides a wide range of reports and analysis tools, we realize that you may need the data in other formats from time to time.  To that end we provide a variety of exports so that you can work with the data in the format of your choice.

Save to XML

Disk Triage provides the ability to save the entire results of the scan to an XML file.  It also provides the ability to restore that saved scan at a later time for further analysis.  As XML is an open and portable format this will allow you to use the data from the scan in a wide external applications.

Save to Database

As well as saving the scan data to XML - you can also save it to database.  When you save it to Database you can restore the scan at a later time for further analysis or access the data directly using an ODBC (or ADO) driver.  This means that you can use programs like Microsoft Access, Paradox, etc to access and report on the data.

If the data is saved to database it can be used in Disk Triage's Visual Sizing Comparison utility and the Multi-Scan Charting feature as well!

Export of Reports

Each report in Disk Triage can be exported to a number of formats.  The exact number depends on which version of the program you are using.  The Expert edition can be exported to PDF, RTF, HTML, XHTML, GIF, JPG, BMP and WMF.  Combine this export facility with the ability to customize your reports and you can a fairly general data extract facility that can provide the data in a variety of formats.

Export to Column Delimited Files

The list of files can be exported to a column delimited list of files containing size, attributes, name, directory, etc.  Because it is column delimited it can easily be imported into programs like Excel and others.  The advantage to this format is that there is no limited to the number of files that can be exported.  Programs like excel can only deal with approximately 64 K of entries before crashing.

As well you can export the list of files out to comma and column delimited files - and a database table - while performing the scan.  This is the only way to make sure that you have the exact list of files that made up your sizing.
