File List Options
Previous  Top  Next

The File List Options screen allows the user to specify if they want to export the list of files that are included in the scan out to a file or database. The ability to export while scanning is important as files on a network drive are constantly changing - this is the only way to get access to exact data that is used to create the sizing.

NOTE: Exporting this list can slow the scan down quite a bit!

File Listings

Export While Scanning
This checkbox determines if the list of files will be exported during the scan. If it is not checked - then the file information will not be exported.

Overwrite File/DB
This checkbox determines if the exported files will be added to an already existing file (or the Database table "FileList") or will it overwrite and simply replace what is already there.

File Name
This edit box allows you to specify a file name to save the list of files to.

Export List To
These three buttons allow the user to choose where they want the list of files exported to
   Column Delmited
This will export the list of a text file that is broken down into columns. This can be easily imported into Excel, Access, etc - and is also easily readable by humans.
   Comma Delimited
This will export the list of a text file that is comma delimted. This can be easily imported into Excel - but is not easily readable by humans.
   Database
This will cause the list of files to be exported to a Database table called FileList. When this option is selected - a new edit box will appear allowing the user to select which database they want to save the list of files to. We recommend that you create a seperate database for this exporting feature - as it will greatly increase the size of a database - depending on how many files are exported.

Fields
These check boxes allow the user to determine which information about each file will be exported to the file or database.
