Each time the program goes to print a report, it loads the report's design from the appropriate file from the Reports sub-directory. The design is loaded when the Options screen is displayed - and before the report is previewed.
Saving Custom Reports
When the user edits the reprot - under the file menu there is an option to 'Save As'. This allows you to make any changes in the Report Customization Dialog and save it under a different name. You can save it under the same name - but then that will change the report for all future runs. Note: That the original shipping versions of the reports are all held in the reports template directory, so you can always go back to the original versions.
Loading Custom Reports
Because the report designs are loaded when the Report Options screen is shown - but before the report is run - you can load your custom report by bringing up the Report Customization Dialog - and choosing Load from the main menu. At this point you pick the file you want to load from the file open dialog - then when you return to the Report Customiziation Dialog - your custom report is loaded. Close the Report Customization Dialog - and you are back to the Report Options screen. At this point if you choose to print the report - it will be printed using your Custom Report Design - and not the default report design for that report.
