This form allows the user to select which files they want to have included in the sizing. By default all files are included - but by using the following form - the user can create queries such as "Include all files owned by 'User X', that are Read Only and have not been modified in over 30 days. As well, the sizing should only include files that are over 4 MB in size."
File Types
The file types allow you to choose how you want to include and exclude files based on their attribute settings. Selecting the first Column (Required) tells the scan that to include a file in the scan - it MUST HAVE the attribute set. The second column (Include) tells the scan to be neutral to files with these attributes. Do not exclude based on the attibute and do not require the file to have that attribute. The third column (Exclude) tells the scan to Exclude files that have that attribute set.
The default setting is to have all attributes set to Include (middle column).
Date Type Selection
This radio group box allows the user to choose which type of file date he/she wants to use in the File Age and Date Range comparisons. The user can choose from the file's Creation, Last Modification and Last Access dates.
Using this field the user can gather data asking questions like ...
- 'Show me all the files that have not be modified in the last 2 months'
- 'Show me all the files that were created in the last 2 days'
- 'Show me all the files that have not been accessed in the last month'
File Age
The file age selection allows you to include only files that meet the file age criteria into the sizing/analysis.
There are two ways of using the file age selection. The first allows you to enter a value into the edit box and then choose =, <, >, <= or => from the drop down box to the right. The number entered is for the number of days old the file is compared to the current date. The second way is to use the lower drop down which allows you to choose from preset file age catagories - like < 1 Day, 1 to 2 Months, etc. The Sum button to the right allows you to change the values of the drop down to be <2 Months, <1 Year, etc - including all periods before.
Date Range
The file date range selection allows you to include only files that have a date that falls in between these dates. In order to use the date range selection you have to first check the Active indicator and then choose the date range you want to use.
File Owner
The file owner edit box allows the user to specify which owner (NT user profile) they would like to restrict the sizing to. Only files owned by this profile will be included in the sizing. This is a great way of finding all the files in a directory structure that are owned by a particular user.
It should be noted that this field requires a fully qualified name. So you must include the domain name (domain\user). To see the format - you can do a small sizing on a directory making sure to specify 'Gather File Owner Stats' in the Additional Statistics check box. Then view the Directory Details (popup menu on the TreeView). The file owner is the last column in the directory details list box.
File Name Size
The file size name selection allows you to include only files that meet the file name size criteria into the sizing/analysis. You enter a value into the edit box and then choose =, <, >, <= or => from the drop down box to the right. So if you entered 20 and choose > from the drop down, then only files whose names are greater than 20 characters in length will be included in the sizing.
File Size
The file size selection allows you to include only files that meet the file size criteria into the sizing/analysis. You enter a value into the edit box and then choose =, <, >, <= or => from the drop down box to the right. So if you entered 1000 and choose < from the drop down, then only files less than 1000 bytes would be included in the sizing.
