Viewing the Chart
Previous  Top  Next

When you click the 'Chart It' button - you will see the Chart itself with the details shown in a grid below it. This screen shows the changes in your disk space usage for the particular item you requested. It could be a directory or an analysis catagory.

The screen can be resized - allowing the graph to take up more space and show more detail. As well from this screen you can easily change the boundries for the Y axis on the left hand side - thus allowing you to modify the degree of change showing in the graph itself. By default it is set to enlarge the boundry of the Axis by 20 percent above and below the top values of the graph. This serves to 'flaten' the graph and provide a better picture of the actual disk space changes. For example a 20 MB change may seem large for a directgory - until you realize that the directory had 2 TB to begin with. Without setting the Y Axis properly the graph would seem to show a huge usage change - forcing the user to read the scale on the left hand side to determine exactly what was happening. To this end, we have changed the range on the graph's Y Axis to be 20% above and below the values charted to try to provide more realistic graphs.

As well at this point - the user can choose which value to show in the chart. It could be total size, number of files, etc. This is done in the Chart Value drop down - shown in the screen captures below.

In addition to being able to print the graph itself from the Graph Customization Toolbar - the user is also able to print a report showing both the graph and the details from the grid.
